Shark Tooth Mound is made up of material provided by PotashCorp-Aurora, one of the world's leading producers of basic ingredients in fertilizers. It's mine is only six miles from the Museum. Dump trucks are loaded there with fossil-rich ore from the mine. After museum visitors sift through this material for several days, it is hauled away and replaced by fresh material from the mine. The material hauled away is used to help stabilize unpaved roads.
